I feel like I’ve been going round in circles the past two weeks. round and round and round. In all facets of my life- work, home, craft- I’ve felt like I’m in a holding pattern. At work I’ve been writing a report (write, read, review, update and repeat). At home I’ve been knitting sleeves. Welcome to Sleeveland.

The second sleeve on my Emilie cardi is well under way. I am still deciding on sleeve length- three quarter or full- so the first sleeve has been set aside while I knit the second. I will need to change to a new skein for the ribbing and am expecting dyelot issues, so how far I get with the original sleeve skeins will probably determine the length. That, and how bored and frustrated I get. I just need to finish the thing and move on!
There was a brief side-trip from Sleeveland. A day trip, if you will, to Hatsville.

Ollie’s favourite teacher at daycare is going on maternity leave next week. She’s been wonderful with my littlest boy, and he has thrived in her care. I didn’t have much time, but little hats don’t take long. I used tosh dk in fragrant, leftover from a tea leaves cardigan last year. It’s a perfect pink, pretty but not too plastic. Today we braved painting, and Ollie made a card to go with it.

That is a very cute hat – and I love the card – and the look on Ollie’s face! I haven’t braved painting with Connor yet…I might wait a bit longer I think, heh!
Sleeveland will go quickly, I promise! (and if your yarn is a hugely different colour, I have a bunch of that yarn (leftovers to use for puffs) which you are welcome to sample – I could send some to you if you like?
Go on, let him paint! It was lots of fun and not even that messy- he was contained to the highchair and the paint is crayola washable, it washed off easily with a warm flannel.

I really like the Emilie pattern – and the red is perfect; not too pink, not too orange, just right. I look forward to seeing you wearing it and any comments you have on what has worked (and what hasn’t) with this pattern.

i think you need 3/4 sleeves on that cardi. given its kind of shorter in the body then i think long sleeves might look a bit uneven? but then what would i know! of all the pinks out there that one from your tea leaves is my favourite. so cute, gorgeous hat. and it made me really happy to know ollie had had such a good teacher!
I’m leaning towards 3/4 sleeves too, although mostly because I just want it finished!
