Paper dolls is blocking and I’ll write a proper post when its ready to wear, but oh what to knit next?
Twit Twoo!!
I’m on a bit of a Kate Davies kick at the moment, and I’ve wanted to make this sweater forever. I have the original free download of the pattern, which hasn’t been available for years. I’ve bought yarn. Twice. And I’ve even bought the proper pattern (because its been updated, because £3.95 is nothing, and because I want to support the designer). I think its time. And owls are cool, right?!
Oh but which yarn to use…
First up we had Cascade Ecological Wool in Natural Grey colour. I bought this last year in an online sale, but when it arrived the colour wasn’t really the right shade of grey. The biggest drawback of online yarn purchases. I really liked the yarn though. Which is why I bought this…
Cascade Ecological Wool in gunmetal colour. This came my way via a friendly destash fairy. And I like it. I like it a lot. It will make a gorgeous O W L S sweater. I’ve even wound the first ball; by hand, and its huge! But I keep getting distracted by this…
Jamiesons Shetland Marl in Amethyst. The pattern has a sample in this yarn/colour and I keep coming back to look at it. Plus I recently discovered my wardrobe is seriously lacking in purple. Maybe its time to do something about that. Or maybe not. I’m not even sure I look any good in purple (who knows, I can’t remember the last time I wore it!). And is it wrong to buy three lots of yarn for one project? THREE! Sensible me says yes. It is wrong. I should knit O W L S in the brown eco wool. I already have it, its been wound, I could even cast on right now. And it will look great, especially with the right buttons. But then I hear that little voice, whispering “what happened to only knitting stuff you want, in yarn you love…”

considering you just knit a mostly grey purple dolls i say go the purple, which is gorgeous, and gives you an excuse to try out the heavier jamieson shetland for us! so you’d be doing a public service really (but not, we probably wont be underwriting the yarn purchase!).
Go the PURPLE! You know you want to…
purple!! Although I love the first grey. I like the pattern in lighter colours somehow. But yeah, three yarns for one project is no biggie – you can use them for something else!
